Colby Instruments, Inc., a California corporation, was founded on April 1, 1977. It is a privately held company. Our laboratory is well equipped with modern test and measurement equipment in both the frequency domain and time domain, covering a frequency range from DC to 20 GHz.
In the first 10 years of operation, we introduced a number of very high-speed pulse generators and clock drivers from DC to 20 Gb/s with transition times as low as 12 ps. The most outstanding performance characteristics were high stability, and extremely low displayed trigger jitter.
In 1988, we introduced a line of fully programmable precision delay lines with resolutions down to 0.25 ps, and a bandwidth from DC to up to 18 GHz (DC to 40 Gb/s NRZ). These delay lines (or phase shifters) are totally free from phase noise, phase noise, and time jitter, and are based on precision mechanical designs of outstanding reliability.
